Washington, D.C. – The National Park Service (NPS) and Ford’s Theatre Society (FTS) announce Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site, located at 511 10th Street, N.W., will be closed to the public for routine maintenance on January 23, 2012. The Petersen House (the House where President Abraham Lincoln died) located at 516 10th Street, N.W., will also be closed that day.

During this closure, visitors may visit www.nps.gov/foth and www.fords.org to experience Ford’s Theatre on an interactive level.

Washington, D.C.—Ford’s Theatre Society announced that Nicholas Stimler has been appointed to the position of Literary and Casting Director. Stimler was previously the Assistant to Broadway Director and Choreographer Jeff Calhoun, who is a Ford’s Theatre Associate Artist. Stimler will manage literary submissions, develop the Society’s theatrical programming in conjunction with the Ford's programming staff and supervise casting for all productions.

Washington, D.C. —Ford’s Theatre Society announced that a donation drive during performances of A Christmas Carol has raised $83,007 for the Washington-based charity Miriam’s Kitchen. Donations were collected November 18-December 29, 2011. In addition to the curtain call collection, patrons also were encouraged to make donations through the Ford’s Theatre Box Office and members of the Ford’s Theatre Society staff donated money to the campaign.

This weekend, November 18-20, the Metro will proceed with major track work on sections of the Blue, Yellow and Red lines.

Blue/Yellow Line: Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, November 18 through Sunday, November 20, buses will replace Metrorail trains between King Street and Pentagon City stations. Crystal City, National Airport and Braddock Road stations will be closed during this time.

Metro will offer a special express bus service between Metro Center and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport throughout the weekend for the benefit of airport travelers.

Washington, D.C.—The Ford’s Theatre Society announced that the cast of the 2011 production of A Christmas Carol is partnering with Miriam’s Kitchen to create a donation drive inspired by the themes of charity in Dickens’s holiday classic. During the curtain calls for performances of A Christmas Carol, the cast will collect monetary donations on behalf of the Washington-based non-profit Miriam’s Kitchen. Patrons can also make donations through the Ford’s Theatre Box Office.
